Some of the best youth soccer programs in the United States can be found right here in mid Michigan.
Each year, AYSO National recognizes areas and regions throughout the country for their efforts in offering quality youth soccer programs; this year, Area G and 4 of its regions were recognized for achieving the pinnacle of youth soccer programs.
For organizational purposes, AYSO is divided into Sections, which is further divided into Areas, which are then divided into regions. Area 8G, which is in Section 8, includes regions serving the communities of Birch Run, Byron Durand, Carman Ainsworth, Fenton TriCounty, Flushing, Grand Blanc, Holly Davisburg, Montrose, New Lothrop, and Swartz Creek.
Area G was awarded a Platinum Award for the second consecutive year and once again was the only Area in all of Michigan and Indiana to be so honored.
Within Area G, Region 283 (Flushing), Region 417 (Fenton Linden), Region 512 (Swartz Creek) and Region 823 (Holly Davisburg) each received Platinum Awards.
Region 1481 (Birch Run) was awarded a Gold Award, Region 169 (Grand Blanc) was awarded a Silver Award and Region 814 (Byron Durand Gaines) was awarded a Bronze Award. Region 766 (Carman Ainsworth), Region 821 (Montrose) and Region 1155 (New Lothrop) were all awarded honorable mentions.
